While most mattress companies tend to offer a single firmness level, Loom & Leaf is devoted to customer satisfaction and comes in two different options in order to appeal to the widest range of customers.

In almost all regards the Loom & Leaf scores at or above average, and when talking about aspects such as pressure relief and comfort it almost always comes out on top. This is a luxurious mattress at an affordable price, and most reviewers find very little to complain about.

Individuals who are lightweight will likely want to opt for the Relaxed-Firm, as they will get more than enough support while still being comfortable. Like with many memory foam mattresses, combo sleepers are not going to love it as much as they typically love innerspring models and hybrids. Each Loom & Leaf begins with an organic cotton cover which is ⅝” in thickness. Cotton is a unique material to use, and most companies simply opt for a polyester blend which is much lower in quality. By choosing cotton, Loom & Leaf ensures that the mattress has room to breathe and that the quilted cover is soft against the body. The thickness adds that extra touch of plushness instead of simply being an overlooked aspect of the build.

Below the quilted cover is the first foam layer which is designed specifically to assist with support in the lumbar region. This layer is made from a 2” gel memory foam that features an added gel lumbar panel. The point here is to reduce any pressure points that are normally aggravated by firmer beds, as well as to ensure the sleeper stays cool throughout the night. Memory foam is notorious for sleeping quite hot and retaining heat, but Loom & Leaf counters this with a high-quality gel that is typically only seen in medical and professional settings. The only downside to the convoluted gel-foam, however, is that it can impact the durability of the mattress as a whole. The transitional layer is made up of 2” of transition foam and it does a decent job of acting as a buffer between the upper comfort and the lower support. It really has no special features attached to it, and is simply there to ensure that the mattress is not overly firm. 

At the base you will find 5.5” of base foam which creates the firmness and support within the Loom & Leaf. This is pretty standard for most memory foam mattresses, and the only thing worth nothing about this layer is that the density used may not hold up well over time for individuals over 230 lbs. The lower density can lead to some sagging, and given that there is no edge support, it is something to be aware of if you fall into this weight range.

Loom & Leaf Foundations

For those who are looking for a full set-up, the Loom & Leaf does offer a couple of add-on options. They have both a basic frame as well as an adjustable frame, and they also sell a foundation if you need it. 

The basic frame is a standard metal option which is adjustable in size and can be used with any of their mattresses. It does require the use of a box spring, which you can either buy on your own or add on at the time of purchase. As of now, there is no option for an upgraded frame, and nothing that comes with a headboard. The metal frame is very heavy-duty and will support the foundation and mattress without issue.

If you already have a frame but lack a box spring, the Loom & Leaf foundation is an affordable option to help rectify this problem. It comes in two different height options, a 4.75” and an 8.75” so that you can customize the bed to your own personal preference. There is no difference in terms of performance, and the differing heights are only an aesthetic choice.

Finally, there is an adjustable bed frame that is available for purchase, and allows you to change the height of both the head and foot region. How Does the Loom & Leaf Compare?
