Nectar mattress is only available in one firmness, which sits at about a 6 on the scale. This classifies it as medium-firm, a great option for back sleepers but a mediocre option for those who prefer to sleep on their side. While stomach sleepers typically need a firmer mattress in order to receive adequate support, they do need to have a bit of give in order to reduce strain on pressure points. Mayne reviewers of the Nectar find that the firmness is unrelenting and there is not enough give while stomach sleeping.
To properly enjoy the benefits of a Nectar mattress, your weight should ideally fall between 130lbs and 230lbs, which will make it supportive enough for any type of sleeper. Those weighing under 130lbs will more than likely find the mattress too firm and will not experience the body contouring effects most often associated with memory foam. For individuals over 230lbs, side sleepers will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of support the Nectar offers, as their weight will properly sink into the foam and the firmness will still allow for contouring. Back sleepers over 230lbs can also enjoy the Nectar, but stomach-sleepers may want to look elsewhere in order to get a comfortable night’s sleep.
Nectar Product Features
The Nectar brand has created a 12” memory foam mattress that is comprised of five distinct layers as well as a cover that holds everything in place. Delivered vacuum-sealed in a tube, the shipping method ensures that delivery is hassle-free and you don’t need to worry about navigating stairwells and doorways.
Each mattress is CertiPUR-US® Certified, which establishes that the quality of foam used is up to regulatory standards. Certified foam is manufactured in a way that doesn’t negatively affect the ozone, as well as not negatively affecting your indoor air quality via VOC emissions. The company doesn’t use any heavy metals or formaldehyde in their manufacturing process, nor do they use any cancer-causing chemicals to create their foam. Overall, Nectar ensures each mattress is safe for both your body as well as the environment around you. While they do not claim that the mattress is crafted from eco-friendly, recycled, or organic materials, rigorous testing maintains the high standards that are claimed.
The top layer of the Nectar mattress is a quilted, gel memory-foam cover. While it doesn’t offer the same contouring properties as other memory-foam options, it does have the unique ability to reduce heat retention and offer a more cooled sleeping experience. One downside to memory foam is its ability to retain heat, and many individuals find that they end up sleeping hot because of it. Nectar is one of the few options that actively works to reduce this discomfort, and that is fully due to the cooling cover. The upgraded Nectar Premier has a 2x polyethylene cooling cover for extra heat wicking and the most premium Nectar mattress, the Premier Copper, has a cover with Copper and PE fibers that quickly wicks away heat & delivers a cool-to-the-touch sensation.
Below the cover you will find a layer of gel memory-foam, again enhanced to offer cooling-properties. This is the softest foam layer within the mattress, and is the portion designed for body-contouring and comfort. Weight-distribution is eased with the gel memory-foam and motion isolation is enhanced through its enveloping nature. At 3” in depth, the memory foam allows for significant sinkage so long as your weight is over 130lbs. The Nectar Premier has an additional inch of gel memory-foam and Premier Copper comes with 2 additional inches. It is very slow-responding to pressure, a downside for lighter individuals, but a benefit in terms of longevity.
The transition layer is built from Hi-Core Memory Foam, a more supportive and firmer foam than what is seen in the top layer. Here is where the mattress gets some of its bounce and springiness, aiding the mattress in reshaping after a night of use. While it will still allow for some sinkage and body contouring, it is meant to support your weight and provide a barrier between your body and the firm base at the bottom. The upgraded Nectar Premier comes with an additional inch of this support layer.
At the bottom of the mattress, you will find a study base layer that brings the Nectar mattress up to a firmness rating of 6. The 7” of high-density poly foam provide a stable foundation that offers maximum support and enhances the overall longevity of the mattress. The Nectar Premier Rest has an additional 2 inches of base layer. This layer does a great job of supporting all weights, and individuals over 230lbs should still benefit from the firmness provided by the poly foam.
Lastly, the Nectar has a shift-resistant lower cover. This durable bottom cover prevents sliding and keeps the mattress together.

Nectar Foundations
While you are welcome to use your own frame and foundation for your new mattress, those who are in need of a full bed system can rest assured that Nectar has them covered.
Up first we have Nectar’s metal bed frame, which is fairly basic in nature. The frame is adjustable so that it can fit any size mattress you purchase and can be changed if you decide to upgrade to a larger option in the future. This frame does require the use of a boxspring, so be sure to keep that in mind if you opt for this starter model. For those who prefer not using a box spring, or who want a more visually appealing bed frame, there is an upholstered option that includes a headboard. With 8” legs and full wooden slats, this frame is designed to support the mattress completely. This option is not adjustable in size, but is offered by Nectar Sleep in Twin, Full, Queen, and King, and Cal King models.
If you have opted for the metal frame, or have a frame that requires a box spring, Nectar does sell foundations made from pine and spruce. These foundations are optimally compared to traditional box springs as they come apart and can be easily snapped together once in your bedroom. Most box springs are designed as a solid unit, making doorways and stairwells a challenged, but this option takes away the stress of moving and transporting making it a great purchase.
Anyone in the market for a more customizable experience will be happy to hear that Nectar offers an adjustable bed frame that comes in both a solid and split option. With the ability to move both sides separately, this is a fun purchase for couples who may prefer sleeping at different angles depending on the support they require. Not only does the frame move up and down, but it is packed full of additional features such as built in USB charging ports and a 15-minute massage setting.
When you purchase a frame or foundation, you have the option of selecting additional add-ons to complete your new bed. Nectar Sleep has their own line of mattress protectors, sheet sets, pillows, and even a weighted blanket for a soothing experience. If you are starting from scratch, Nectar truly is a one stop shop for setting up your ideal bed.

Given how customizable the shopping experience is, it is difficult to list all of the potential combinations that are available on the Nectar website. In the above chart the most advertised options are listed as well as the models that differ based on size. The basic bed frame, which is adjustable and only available in one size, is an additional $95usd regardless of what size mattress you purchase.
Not listed above are the sheets, mattress protector, pillows, or weighted blanket which are all available for purchase from the Nectar Sleep website. Easily added on, you can click which you would like when picking a mattress and the total will be calculated for you at check-out.
The sheet sets are priced at $150 USD and include a pillowcase, a fitted sheet, and a flat sheet. Nectar sells a 300 thread count duvet that ranges from $149 to $199 USD depending on size. If you are wanting a blanket, they have a quilt and a weighted option that comes with a removable cover for easy cleaning. The quilt comes in three colors and ranges from $79 to $99 USD depending on size. The weighted blanket is available in two sizes, standard and large, and two weight options of either 15lbs or 20 lbs. Prices range from $149 to $179 USD, not including any available discounts.
Built from the same materials as their mattresses, the Nectar pillows are comprised of memory foam and features that enhance its cooling abilities. The pillows cost $75 each, but are often on sale for new customers and can be as little as $50 each if you buy two. The pillows are standard size and fit both the Nectar sheet set as well as more standard pillowcases.
Finally, the Nectar mattress protector is a common add on, as it helps reduce staining and dust mites and is recommended to help with longevity. Priced at $99 USD it is a worthwhile add-on, especially for pet owners or those who like to eat and drink in bed.

In terms of price Nectar is far below what other mattress companies are charging. While some may view this as suspicious, the fact that they are an e-commerce company plays a major role in cost. Without brick and mortar stores, companies that exists completely online reduce many of their costs and they can put those savings into reducing the price of their products. In addition, all of Nectar’s mattress are manufactured in China which is typically a cheaper option than using American manufacturers. Some may question the quality of products developed this way, but by undergoing rigorous testing, Nectar promises their mattresses are high-quality and environmentally friendly.
Another area of difference between Nectar and other brands is the lower height, coming in at 12” which is 2”-3” smaller than most. The industry standard is 10”, so Nectar is still above average, but for shorter individuals or elderly customers this height difference can make entry and exit significantly easier. If you prefer to have your mattress higher up, you can always opt for a frame that is raised, a thicker foundation, or you can add a mattress topper which will both enhance comfort as well as elevate the overall height. In terms of quality, the height of the mattress has no effect and is purely for visuals, so you don’t need to worry about compromised comfort or support because of it.
Compared to other memory foam mattresses on the market, the most stand-out feature of the Nectar is its ability to reduce heat retention. Memory foam is notorious for sleeping hot, so to find a product that actively works to keep cool is rare. Specialized fibers and differing layers work together to disperse heat build-up, and moisture-wicking properties prevent the accumulation of sweat. While a memory foam mattress will never sleep as cool as an innerspring model, Nectar does a fantastic job comparably.
Motion isolation is another area in which Nectar typically beats out its competitors, with there being very little transfer between bed partners. Eliminating motion transfer completely isn’t necessarily possible, but for the average sleeper who moves in the night, there should be nothing noticed by the other sleeper. Not only does the mattress do a great job of motion isolation, it’s virtually silent. Even the roughest sleeper shouldn’t make a noise in the night and there are no squeaky springs to be found here.
Nectar Company Information
Headquartered in San Mateo, California, the company was started by Craig Schmeizer, Eric Hutchinson, and Ran Reske. It is a privately-owned corporation headed by DreamCloud LLC which specializes in sleep products such as mattresses. Both corporations are located within California, and has over 200 employees spread across multiple remote locations. Nectar Sleep serves all of the United States as well as the United Kingdom and is available for purchase in store at over 250 different locations across the East Coast.
Nectar Mattress has no brick and mortar stores of its own, meaning all purchases from the company need to be made via their website. If you do prefer to shop in store, however, there are businesses that carry their mattresses and you can find the one nearest to you using the store locator online. There is phone support for people who prefer to talk to a live person, as well as a live chat and a customer support email address.
To ease the minds of those who are uneasy about buying a mattress without trying it first, Nectar Sleep offers a 365 day trial period in which you can sleep on the mattress for one year, commitment free. The year long trial is ideal, as it means you can experience the mattress in all seasons and decide if it truly is the best option for you. If at the end you decide you no longer want the mattress, simply contact the company and they will come and collect it and issue you a full refund.

Bottom Line
Overall, the Nectar mattress is a solid investment at a very low price point. It is difficult to find a good quality mattress for such a low cost, and the fact that it undergoes testing to ensure its quality makes it a worthwhile product to check out. Coupled with the year long trial period, it’s impossible to go wrong with buying the product and seeing if it fits your needs.
The memory foam is good quality and conforms well to the average sleeper, offering both comfort as well as adequate support. While some may find the mattress to be more on the firmer side, it has a short break-in period that will often lead to most people being comfortable.
Like all products, the Nectar mattress isn’t perfect, but there has yet to be a perfect product ever invented. Instead, Nectar offers a great mattress that will suit the needs of most individuals at a price that is affordable to the majority. Risk free and coming with a lifetime warranty, the Nectar mattress is absolutely worth trying out for a great night’s sleep.
