Design & Construction

All of the mattresses offered by Helix are hybrids, meaning they are made from a combination of foam and innerspring coils. Which of the 4 are used, and the order in which they are placed, will ultimately determine the firmness, ideal sleep position, and type of targeted support that the mattress offers.

Less firm models such as the Sunset use memory plus foam for the comfort layer, a much softer and enveloping foam that relieves pressure while making you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. As for the transitional layer, the Sunset, and its other soft Sibling the Moonlight, rely on Helix’s proprietary dynamic foam which is a latex-foam hybrid alternative and offers a unique ergonomic support that is more comfortable than other model’s transitional layers. 

If you enjoy a medium-firm mattress then the Midnight is going to suit you best and it’s made using the same memory plus foam comfort layer as the Sunset. However, the big difference with the Midnight can be found in the transitional layer where you will encounter a high-grade polyfoam that is significantly firmer and more supportive than the dynamic foam found in the less firm models. The high-grade polyfoam is also the same transitional layer for the firmest models, the Twilight and Dawn, although those achieve extra firmness by opting for comfort layers made from options such as the Helix dynamic foam.
